Victims of the Lakehaven Apartment Complex Fire in Sunnyvale Fund

On Thursday, November 7, 2019, a fire broke out at the
Lakehaven Apartments in north Sunnyvale, a single-story
complex of 11 one-bedroom and studio apartments in the
Lakewood Village neighborhood. Although swift action by
the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety contained the
fire itself to two units, the entire complex had to be red
tagged, leaving fifty-one low-income residents, including
20 children, without homes. Many of the families had
doubled and tripled-up in the small apartments.

Over the Veterans Day weekend,
the City of Sunnyvale and Sunnyvale Community Services
(SCS) worked together to connect with clients and assess
their needs. SCS has now taken over case management of
the Lakehaven families.
